BIM and GIS ANALYSIS. JOSE VICENTE: GIS ANALYST

For an easier management of large facilities as Los Angeles Pierce College, it is convenient to access all the available information in just a few clicks of the mouse.

The Geospatial Information System (GIS) is a system that compiles all the characteristics and properties of the elements into a Geospatial location that allows the user to determine, analyze and utilize the information into its geographical context.

At the video shown it is possible to watch some maps created for Los Angeles Pierce College to control, manage and maintain the facilities. Some of the maps created include the analysis of the buildings, rooms and interior spaces according to California Community Colleges Fusion Directive and Omniclass Construction Classification System as well as the classification of exterior spaces according to Los Angeles Community College District Directive.

The information of those buildings, rooms or spaces is presented to the user in an interactive website to search, group and create list of elements with common properties and display, print or export it to other different software.

My experience as BIM/GIS Analyst

For almost 3 years I have been the BIM/GIS Analyst at Los Angeles Pierce College working for e7studio.

My duties at that position were (among others):

- Creating BIM Models of Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems for different buildings at the campus, through interpretation of As-Built documents and Field Verification, analyzing the interaction among those systems and developing an i-model and integrating CMMS information for its use by the Operations and Maintenance of Facilities Department for the operations of the campus.

- Creating GIS maps for utilities systems and analyzing and developing the space inventory of interior and exterior spaces, coordinating those elements into an interactive GIS map exportable to the CMMS software used by Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD)

- Collaborating with the Facilities Department to develop maps, graphics and studies for campus operations to optimize the use of the resources and improve the operations schedule.
