Acting as intern at e7 Architectural Studio I was challenged
to study the expected consumption of energy of a particular building in the
design phase at that time.
The main concern was how a large glass façade facing west
will penalize the use of energy to keep those spaces of the building within a
comfort range of temperature.
That west façade was supposed to be covered by a shading
device composed by a perforated metal sheet.
The goal of this study was to analyze the amount of energy
needed to keep the temperature of the building zones affected by the curtain
wall as well as analyze the same zones with a different configuration and
position of the perforated metal sheet that acted as fins.
